Abbeyfield School students and staff are celebrating a fantastic set of results for this year’s A level students. The hard work and motivation of our students ensures that the outcomes are a real credit to them and we wish them every success as they prepare for the next chapter in their lives.
98% of students achieved 2 or more A levels at A*- E with 64% of all students achieved A*- C grades in 3 or more subjects. The school has performed very well in traditionally academic subjects such as Maths, Further Maths and Physics as well as performing strongly in Business and Economics.
Headteacher, Mr Tucker commented that, “all our students will be leaving with A levels and to have a high proportion with A*- C grades is a real achievement for them. They have been highly successful in both academic and vocational courses too. Pupils from Abbeyfield will be leaving here to take up places ranging from the academic heights of Oxford to highly acclaimed vocational courses at Universities such as Falmouth and to eagerly sought after apprenticeships schemes. Abbeyfield has the commitment to support students achieve what they want in life and we are dedicated to our motto of our sixth form being a place where students ‘enter to learn, and leave to achieve’.
As always, we are delighted with the performance of all our students and they will be proud of what they have accomplished. A few highlights are include:
- Dom Clarke: A*,A*,A*, B – Oxford
- Oliver Gregory: A*,A, A – Imperial College London
- Ben Holloway: A, A, Dist* – Swansea
- Sarah Marley: A, A, A – Swansea
- Edward Owen: B, D, Dist* – Falmouth
- Joshua Saville: A, A, B – Birmingham
- James Stanley: A, B, B – BDO apprenticeship
- Calon Watson: A, B, B – Swansea
The rigours of the A level course can mean that some students don’t achieve as well as they might have hoped. We are very keen to support any student that needs help with the University clearing process and they must not hesitate to get in touch with the school over the coming days and weeks if they need to.
Well done to all our students – a great year and one for us to build on!
