Everyone at Abbeyfield School would like to congratulate Year 11 on an amazing effort with their GCSE results. Over the last few years GCSE’s have become increasingly tough and our students have shown huge determination and commitment to achieve fantastic results.
We are very proud of all our students, who sat exams this summer, and their achievements at all levels but we are particularly pleased with the number of top grade 9’s being achieved in a variety of subjects. With 73% of students achieving a pass grade or higher in English and 71% achieving the same level or higher in Maths our students are well placed for the next steps in their educational journey. Progress is the key measure of a schools success and the progress made by students on our vocational BTEC courses was particularly strong. In creative subjects students have shown their flair with particularly strong progress evident in Art, Drama, Music and Photography. As a new subject results in Spanish were excellent as were French with over 70% achieving 5 or above. Similarly there was some very high attainment in Sciences most notably Biology with 50% of students achieving a 9-7 grade.
The students have worked very hard and we wish all those moving on to pastures new the best of luck. We look forward to welcoming many of those returning into Year 12 at the start of September.
