WELLBEING

Abbeyfield School is committed to raising awareness, increasing understanding and providing a place where all children and young people feel safe, secure and able to achieve and experience success and wellbeing.

We understand that everyone experiences life challenges that can make us vulnerable and at times may need additional support to face those challenges. We take the view that positive health and wellbeing is everyone’s business and that we all have a role to play.

Though our staff are trained to offer support at school level, we cannot act as mental health experts and we do not try to diagnose conditions. We have clear systems and processes in place for identifying possible mental health concerns, including routes to escalate concerns and clear referral and accountability systems. Through our PSHE curriculum, Character Development and Pastoral support we endeavour to create a safe and calm educational environment and strengthen resilience before serious mental health problems occur.
